About Me well…a little

It has always been hard for me to write something about myself.  So I will attempt this with an open mind and give up some information to a world of people I do not know. :)

My formal education consists of 12 credit hours at a Community College in upstate NY. However, my mother is an outstanding teacher. She observed I was very eager to read as child. Mom always had a book in her hand and I copied her. I eventually began to read all of her collection which consisted of the works of Shakespeare, Mark Twain, Emily Dickenson. I felt the authors were entertaining, but I was searching for something non fiction. I came across Booker T. Washington’s, “Up from slavery,” which was an Autobiography. From that moment on I was hooked. I always wanted to know a story from the beginning so history became my favorite subject. I don’t know what was more interesting the research or the ability to give my history teachers fits in class. I was primarily interested in African history, because my text-book in school never told me anything about the people or the continent. I knew Egypt was on the continent of Africa, but the way it was presented in class made it seem as if they were not Africans. After a few trips to the principles office I decided to keep my knowledge to myself, but continue to search for more information. What was amazing is our public library was full of African Authors and African history books. I would sit for hours in the library on the floor. I got to know the librarians by name. It was an interesting time.

I joined the military, discovered women, alcohol and marijuana. My research stopped for sometime. Now that I’ve been with my wife for almost 18 years the burning sensation in my stomach wasn’t indigestion, but the desire to read again and pick up where I left off. I’m constantly questioning anything of value which is told to me. I will research something if I find it necessary, however during the last 10 years I’ve became more interested in politics.

I’m wanting this blog to strike a chord in people and make them want to think, question and research to come to their own conclusion. We are not drones walking on this earth. We do not have to believe everything we are told. As I learned though, do your research before you question and do it at a proper time and place.

My education according to standard believe is relatively weak, but life experiences, reading and researching I can put myself on a level with many college graduates and some graduates with masters in history.

Please enjoy this blog and use your mind to make comments.

Thank you,
